Can the Tigers catch the ‘Roos by the tail?

Springbank v Waubra
THE in-form Tigers present Waubra’s first big challenge of the season with many pundits believing this could be finally the week someone puts an asterisk in the loss column of what has been an incredible season to date for the Kangaroos. Waubra then go to play the rest of the top-four, Newlyn, Buninyong and Gordon in blockbuster clashes to close out the season. If they can win most, if not all those games then they’re obvious flag favourites, but a couple losses in this tight completion could bring one of the challengers to the forefront. Prediction – Waubra by 15 points.

Beaufort v Ballan
In atrocious conditions, the Crows were able to hold on against a gallant Wickers last week in a game where only two goals were scored for the entire match. This round they should have it a little bit easier against the Blues and if the weather permits, it could be a big opportunity to increase their percentage as they try and make a charge towards a top-four spot. Prediction – Beaufort by a matter of how much.

Bungaree v Skipton
Match of the Round in the Bendigo Bank & Rural Bank Central Highlands Football League with the Demons hosting an out of form Emu’s side that’s coming off the back of a much-needed bye. It is ninth verses eighth with Skipton only couple weeks ago looking at trying to create a top-four finish in the competition, but now stare down the barrel of missing the finals. Honestly both sides aren’t playing up to the standard required for finals footy, so this one shapes a defining moment all-round. Prediction – Bungaree in a flip of the coin.

Buninyong v Daylesford
Another week and another Bombers victory expected with the Bulldogs just struggling to keep their head above water now. Prediction – Buninyong comfortably.

Dunnstown v Clunes
The Towners have made it three in a row, and back at home this week they are strong favourites against the struggling Magpies. They should make it four. Jack Sutherland has had a sensational month of football for Dunnstown and will be hoping to even sneak more forward to add some goals to his 2019 tally. Prediction – Dunnstown by 42 points.

Gordon v Learmonth
It is now must win for the Lakies with club two games off the pace for a top-eight spot. It isn’t an easy one with a red-hot Gordon looking to claim another victim. Many pundits would say the Eagles have one of, if not the, best spines in the entire competition. A win here not only ends Learmonth’s season, but helps cement and confirm Gordon’s place as contenders for the premiership. Prediction – Gordon by 24 points.

Hepburn v Creswick
Sam Dunstan was once again terrific up forward in his first year at the Burra last week with six majors in his side’s big win over a struggling Hoppers. The spearhead has 55 goals in 12 appearances and will once again be the obvious focal point for the Wickers to stop. Only conceding one goal last week shows that Creswick defence could hold up to the pressure, but the tough muddy slog may leave Ryan Knowles’ men a little too tired to be able to slug it out with one of the league’s powerhouses. Prediction – Hepburn in a tight one.

Newlyn v Carngham Linton
A soft run home has been the recent talking point for the Cats, but you can only beat the opposition that is put in front of you and it is hard to see the Saints being any real competition in this one. Steve Clifton was back to his best last week and the Ex-GWS Giant should be earmarked for another big performance. Prediction – Newlyn by a staggering margin.
