Canny and Lee quinella in epic race
TIM Canny and Craig Lee rode off Scratch and through the entire field to claim a famous quinella in the 2019 Rising Sun Trophy on Sunday, 28 April.
A fair south westerly breeze and intermittent showers made conditions tough for the twenty five riders who contested the 56km handicap race.
Many riders tried to hang on to the scratch express train, yet Canny and Lee had secured the race lead with 16km remaining. They made their final bid for glory at the 48km mark, breaking clear of the would be challengers and racing to the famous Learmonth Wall together.
The Rising Sun Trophy honours all those who served their country during peacetime and conflict. All monies received on the day will be donated to the Glendaurel CFA.
