Geelong will open their 2025 AFLW campaign with a marquee home clash against reigning premiers North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos at GMHBA Stadium

The round one twilight fixture on Saturday 16 August marks the first time an AFLW season will begin during the AFL home-and-away campaign, as the league celebrates its 10th season with a fixture designed to grow rivalries and maximise fan engagement

Geelong’s fixture features six games at GMHBA Stadium, the only major AFL venue hosting AFLW matches in 2025. The Cats will play host to Sydney in Round 2, Melbourne in Round 4, Brisbane in Round 6, Gold Coast in Round 9 and Carlton in Round 11, giving fans consistent access to elite women’s footy in the heart of Geelong

AFL Head of Strategy and Scheduling Josh Bowler said the fixture had been designed to make it “easy and accessible for fans to attend” while celebrating the game’s history

“As we head into the 10th season of the NAB AFLW competition it is important to recognise the moments and match-ups that have helped shape the league so far” Bowler said

AFL General Manager – AFLW Emma Moore said the milestone season was an opportunity for fans to connect with their clubs

“There are some amazing match-ups across the season so fans can get to the games and soak up the atmosphere which makes AFLW such a unique and fantastic game-day experience” Moore said
