Club readies for jumps day

GRAND National Jumps Day is coming to the Ballarat Turf Club this month.

From 11am on Sunday 27 August there will be a six jumps race program, food trucks and entertainment on site with both packages and general admission tickets available.

CEO of Ballarat Turf Club, Belinda Glass, said the day has a range of entertainment and is different to other race days.

“It’s a bit different because there’s no flat races on that particular day, just jump races,” she said.

“It’s like the grand final of jump races for the season.”

There will be a bus transporting attendees from Ballarat to the track to allow for a fuss free day.

Major prize money will be on offer for participants, with the largest prize valued at $400,000.

“It’s always a spectacle for the crowd and the Ecycle Solutions Grand National Steeple Chase is a very significant race and offers significant prize money,” said Ms Glass.

She encouraged the community to come along and support country racing in Victoria.

“Country racing allows people to come together and support their country clubs,” said Ms Glass.

“They’re really good days to come together, meet with friends, bring family along and enjoy a day out.”

On the day, there will be entertainment for the whole family both on and off the track.

“You’ve got the entertainment factor of what’s happening in the background and a good day out with beverages, food and live music,” said Ms Glass.

“There’s a huge variety and you don’t have to be a racing enthusiast to enjoy a day out at the races.”

Members of BTC, AJRA, Warrnambool, Hamilton, Sandown, Casterton, Pakenham, Bendigo, and Coleraine are also eligible for the reduced rate.
