Cricket club readies to blast off
HADDON Cricket Club members are inviting children of all abilities to join this seasons Woolworths cricket blast program.
The program is suitable for children aged five years and above who want to learn how to play cricket.
All participants who register receive a welcome pack which includes merchandise and a personalised shirt.
“It’s essentially just an introduction to cricket and the first experience a kid will have of cricket,” said Kane Anthony, cricket blast program coordinator.
“We are really just building some skills like being able to throw a ball, catch a ball, hold a cricket bat a bowl a ball.
“It’s about making it fun and exciting.”
Each session will run on a Tuesday evening from 5pm, with younger or older siblings invited to attend and a sausage sizzle each week.
This is the second year the club has run the program and Mr Anthony said participants enjoy the social aspects.
“A lot of these kids don’t know each other, they come from different primary schools, and they can meet new kids and be outside,” he said.
“There’s no pressure and it’s a family thing.”
The season starts Tuesday 12 November at Haddon Recreation Reserve. To register visit tinyurl.com/blaster-reg.
