FRIENDS of India Network played their annual Twenty20 cricket match in early-February.

It was a closely contested game that saw the tables turn in the last three overs, with the Rest of Ballarat Raiders winning and taking 2-1 series lead over the Ballarat Indians Lions.

The theme of this year’s fundraising effort was a campaign to ‘Strike out stroke,’ with two months of hard work culminating in the annual cricket game at Ballarat Grammar Oval and gala fundraiser dinner at Mechanics Institute.

Stroke affects 1 in 6 people, of all ages, and has far reaching effects on the patients, their families and the wider community.

Much is being done to raise awareness and improve early detection, but more needs to be done both in acute management and rehabilitation.

Friends of India Network hope to have raised more than $10,000 this year, which will be directed to stroke management at Ballarat Health Services.

While the exact fundraising total is still being worked out the Friends of India Network strongly urges all Ballarat residents to consider donating to the important and deserving cause.

Donations can be made by visiting bhs.org.au/donations and choosing “Friends of India Project.”
