Dunnstown v Bungaree

A TOP eight clash in the Central Highlands Football League with the fifth place Towners hosting the seventh placed Demons as the comp comes off the Queen’s Birthday long weekend bye.

Bungaree moved in the top eight after an empathic 35-point victory last time out over Daylesford.

Lachie Thornton has consistently been the Demons best in season 2022 with only the self-infliced wound of Bungaree’s forward line hurting them in even further and holding them back from progressing up the table.

For Dunnstown Kyle Forde has been a revelation in the ruck this season for them with Mitch Henderson consistently amongst Glen Wilkens best players week after week.

Prediction: Dunnstown in an arm wrestle.

 

Ballan v Creswick

The Blues got their first victory of the season last time out against cellar dwellers Carngham-Linton and back at home would fancy their chances to make it two in a row against the struggling Wickers.

Creswick only win so far themselves, which also came against Carngham-Linton, and after the bye and a week off there is no excuses for them not to be fresh and prepared for this one.

Prediction: Creswick by 24 points.

 

Daylesford v Carngham-Linton

Another winless season seems to be on the cards for the Saints, with the Bulldogs hosting them at Victoria Park.

Carngham-Linton have already had their best chances to get on the winners list in the Central Highlands Football League with another year into the rebuild set to go unrewarded.

Daylesford’s best and worse is pretty far between, however, and if the Doggies are off, funnier things have happened.

Prediction: Daylesford comfortably.

 

Learmonth v Beaufort

It is simple maths here, whoever wins this one will be inside the top eight, as ninth and eighth go to battle in an old cliche eight pointer.

The Lakies have pushed a couple of the predominate sides in the competition, with a few of honourable losses still keeping them within finals contention.

For Beaufort a good run of form that saw the Crows win four games in a row has come crashing back to earth after a hammering by Dunnstown last time out.

Little in this one with the smallest of margins expected to separate two sides desperate to return to September action in the comp.

Prediction: Learmonth in a tight one.

 

Waubra v Springbank

Match of the round as arch rivals go to battle.

Springbank are undefeated and sit top of the ladder with a percentage of in excess of 400 per cent, already securing them finals footy in season 2022.

But the job is only have done if you ask veterans like Joel Mahar and Chris Quinlan who are desperate to lead the Tigers to glory for the sixth time in their history, third time in their careers and first time since 2016.

Prediction: Springbank by 12 points.

 

Newlyn v Rokewood-Corindhap

Another long Saturday afternoon expected for Cats fans as suggestions of a rebuild at the forefront of rookie coach Chris Banwell’s mind.

Their opponents this weekend, Rokewood-Cordinhap, could act as the blueprint for what Newlyn are facing, with the Hoppers raiding the reserves and lower sides of the Ballarat Football League in recent years to bolster their list.

The Hoppers are now serious contenders for a premiership and should do this one with ease.

Prediction: Rokewood-Corindhap in a landslide.

 

Buninyong v Skipton

Disaster. Only word you can describe the 2022 season of the Buninyong Football Netball Club in the Central Highlands Football League.

A shock loss to Clunes in round eight has seen the Bombers fall to 12th on the table and many already putting a line through them in terms of making finals.

Skipton are inside the competitions top four with great work from the three Romeril boys in the midfield one of the catalyst for their rise up the ladder.

Prediction: Skipton by just a matter of how much.

 

Gordon v Clunes

Still clear premiership favourites, the Eagles has a comprehensive 47-point victory in wet conditions over closest rivals Hepburn last time out and the effort did their flag favourites tag justice.

Captain Adam Toohey kicked eight, while mark Gunnell and James Kelly put on the Eagles shirt for the first time in season 2022, just to make mission impossible even harder for the Maggies going into this game.

Prediction: Gordon by 40 points.
