Knights bounce back to tie Black
THE feature match of round three saw recent powerhouse Whites Knights take on VB Black. With the return of Pubudu Mahesh, Whites Knights looked to build momentum early in the season with back-to-back wins, while VB Black were hoping to return to form after last week’s loss.
On paper it looked like an early season clash of potential finalists.
Both teams traded points early in the match but with Thomas Gao setting the tone with his front court presence, VB Black were able to run away the first set. The second set was much the same with Whites Knight unable to mount an effective attack against strong blocking, and VB Black took a two sets to nil lead.
Whites Knights finally got the game on their terms with captain Darren White leading the way and the tempo volleyball they played in the third and fourth set enabled them to salvage a 2-2- draw.
In other results Nemesis proved too strong for Buffaloes, Phantoms were too experienced for the young BCC Baboon boys, Bengali found their groove most notably the Carey brothers (captain Jack and Eddy) reuniting to best VB Gold and in the final clash of the round Slammers were no match for 7 Deadly Sins big hitting.
