Ladies Triples tournament gets underway
THE Central Wendouree Bowling Club held its first Ladies Triples for this season with the tournament named in honour of respected player Pam Collins.
Bowlers were treated to a light lunch before playing two games of 13 ends.
The eventual winners were Jean Burt, Liz Denham and Sue Peters, second place went to Heather Hopkinson, Gwen Archibald and Joy Watson, while Lyn Kelly, Meryl Holloway and Glen Cuthbert picked up third.
This format of play was the brainchild of Central Wendouree’s Kay Geddes who recognised a need for a women’s only competition similar to events held by the men.
Each Central Wendouree lady was asked to invite two players from other clubs and 32 teams participated.
This is the second season that the Ladies Triples has been held. Due to its popularity and success, the Club decided to continue with this format.
Midlands Golf/Bowls Club is holding a similar monthly event for Lady Bowlers. Their first Ladies Triples will be held on Wednesday, 28 November.
