TV freelance technical director Barry Lamb is more used to making sure others are in the limelight but now he’s has stepped up to the tee and taken on the role of Creswick Golf Club president.

Elected unanimously, his move into the top job was different to previous years with members voting online at the annual general meeting.

Lamb brings to the role a new perspective and is looking forward to working with current members to ensure the club, based at the RACV Goldfields Resort, continues to provide members with a great golfing experience.

A club member for nearly a quarter of century, Lamb said the course was one of the most picturesque and challenging in the district.

“The club has seen a number of owners since it was last redeveloped in 2008 and as a club we are delighted to be under the management of RACV who have worked alongside us to promote this wonderful course to a new group of players through its wide network,” he said.

“My aim, along with the new committee, is to encourage more local golf fanatics to enjoy this magnificent course. Once you have played here you will want to return again and again.”

One of the first tasks Lamb has undertaken is to survey all current members to find out what they like, what could be improved and what initiatives could be undertaken.

“I’ve been grateful at the number of members who have returned the surveys and with the support of Steven Oliver, RACV’s manager, I hope that we may start to introduce some of these initiatives that should appeal to members and their families,” he said

“We’re particularly keen to focus on encouraging more ladies and young enthusiasts to take up the game of golf.”
