Over 60s half-way done

THE first two rounds of the Ballarat District Bowls Division Men’s Over 60s Singles were played at Creswick and Ballarat North bowling clubs last week in trying conditions.
First round action at Creswick saw Brian Hickman defeat John Maher in a close game, 21-18. Ian Hedger took the win from Stef Wereszcuk, 21-16. Jack Duggan won over Ken Birch, 21-9. Geoff Gullock was a convincingly victor, beating Des Williams, 22-3. Lastly Tony Lange scrapped home against Roy Crawley winning, 21-18.
In the Ballarat North games Wayne Roberts got up by two shots against Jeff Ryan, 21-19. Steve Gollan had a win defeating Ian McBain, 21-14. John Hofstra downed last year’s champion Ian Warner, 21-15. Rob Edwards took an 11-shot victory on Steve Jones, 21-10. In the final game Richard Haddrick had a convincing win, defeating Mick Hughes, 23-3.
Round two at Ballarat North saw Richard Haddrick defeat Wayne Roberts, 21-6. Colin Young downed Winston Silbereisen, 21-5. Rob Storey was victorious over Brim Hall, 21-7. Norm Hand had a good win over Roy Broughton, 21-10. Similarly, Steve Gollan defeated Rob Edwards by the same margin, 21-10. Leigh MacKenzie and John Hofstra played in an epic battle with Hofstra the victor, 21-15. Kevin McKeegan defeated Barry Watson 21-16.
At Creswick Jack Duggan took the win Geoff Gullock and Brian Hickman defeated Ian Hedger. Both games could have gone either way scoring and finished with the same 21-20 score line. Ed Harman had a win against Tony Lange, 21-7, Terry McDonald defeated Wally Mason, 24-15. Lastly Mark Vorbach defeated Ron Ryan, 22-15.
Rounds three and four will be played at Ballarat North Bowling Club on 12 November.
