Rinaldi returns for another season
THE Ballarat Miners have announced their first signing for next year’s Coles Express NBL1 South season, and she’s a well-known name.
Kristy Rinaldi will run on for her 15th season in Ballarat, having played for the Lady Miners, the Rush and now the recently rebranded return to the Miners.
Second overall on the Ballarat games played list, Rinaldi is 181 centimetres tall and was listed as a guard last season, where she averaged over nine points and six-and-a-half rebounds in her 12 games played, with a shooting percentage of 31.25.
Newly appointed Miners women’s head coach David Herbert welcomed the veteran’s return.
“Kristy has been an amazing player for the Rush and now the Miners program for many years,” he said.
“We are hoping to rejuvenate her career and have her make a real impact on the program.
“This is our very first signing and a most important one to recognise the hard work, effort and sacrifice Kristy has given the club over many years.
“I would love nothing more than to win a championship for Kristy and that is exactly what we will have our sights set on.
“I have admired Kristy’s ability to score from range and across the court for many years and I look forward to coaching her for the very first time.”
The NBL1 South Season gets underway in April next year.
