‘Roos visit Bloods in GF rematch
Melton vs. East Point
AFTER defeat in the last year’s McDonalds Ballarat Football League Seniors grand final, the Bloods are looking to rectify the heartbreaking two-point loss when they host the Kangaroos for the first time this season. Both grand finalists have started in red hot form and were comprehensive victors last round. The young sides play a beautiful brand of football, but with the vast expanses and typically windy conditions of MacPherson Park, it is hard to see the Bloods dropping any game against anyone on their home deck. Prediction: Melton in a close affair.
Darley vs. Bacchus Marsh
THE Cobras will have it all to do when they take on their cross-town rivals at Darley Park this Saturday afternoon. Devils defender, Trent Angwin, is expected to line-up for the first time against his former Cobra teammates and that should add some more spice into what’s traditionally a fiery derby. The Cobras were let off the hook from some bad kicking last week from North Ballarat to only record only a 14-point defeat. If they play that badly we could see a repeat from last year’s elimination final where the Devils were far too good. Prediction: Darley by plenty.
Sunbury vs. Melton South
THE Eastern Lions return to their home deck for the first time in season 2019 and will play last year’s wooden spooners. The Panthers only managed six majors in last week’s defeat to the Bloods, with four coming from the boot of talented small forward, William Thornton-Gielen. Lions X-Factor Alik Magin put on another football clinic in loss and his class alone should be enough to see them through in this one. Prediction: Sunbury by 30 points.
North Ballarat City vs. Lake Wendouree
NIGHT footy once again takes centre stage with the Lakers having to make the long journey across the road to Mars Stadium. Despite the edition of 2014 Henderson Medallist and Ex-Ballarat Swans coach, Shane Hutchinson, the Lakers looked way too far off the pace last week, while North Ballarat continue to build towards a premiership onslaught in season 2019. Prediction: North Ballarat City 10 goals plus.
