Short trip down Albert St as Redan take on Sebas

May 23, 2019 BY

Sebastopol v Redan
INJURIES has been the story of the season for the Burras, however with what was essentially an extra week off for them, with no players playing representative footy, means they are able to recall a few more senior regulars on Saturday. The Redan Lions have been the big improvers and remain undefeated in the McDonalds Ballarat Football League to date with ex-VFL superstars Orren Stephenson and Lachie George mong there best week after week. The Lions lost to Sebastopol for the first time in over a decade last season but should rectify that this weekend in what will be a cracking game of footy. Prediction – Redan in a tight one.

Lake Wendouree v Ballarat
A DISASTROUS season for the Swans continued as Joe Carmody’s men were humbled by the Cobras at Maddingley Park in round four by over 100 points. The Lakers don’t possess the same firepower of the Cobras up forward but will present the same sorts of challenges for the Swans defence with Callum McKay and the Hepworth brothers all too strong to handle. Prediction – Lake Wendouree by 30 points.

Darley v North Ballarat City
AFTER what was a dramatic game on and off the field the last time this too sides played last year, both teams are looking to get back on the winners list following losses in round four. North Ballarat haven’t won since round one and will be really hoping to get a big performance out of spearhead Will Young who has only snagged four majors to date. Devils coach, Heath Scotland, remains a ’50-50’ chance to play as his side looks to remain undefeated at Darley Park. Prediction – Darley by 15 points.

East Point v Melton South
HARD to see the Panthers getting close in this one against the reigning premiers as the Kangaroos once again have an opportunity to boost their already big percentage. Last time these sides played it was a whopping 67-point margin with only bad kicking saving the Panthers from further embarrassment. Expect to see in form Brad Whittaker increase his lead at the top of the Tony Lockett Medal race. Prediction – East Point by 10 plus goals.

Bacchus Marsh v Sunbury
DEFINITELY game of the round with the Cobras hosting their eastern counterparts from Sunbury in a match that is regarded as an old fashion eight pointer. The Lions will look to their stars from Interleague in Grant Valles, Jack Landt and Mitch Conn who were clearly among the best players for the BFNL last Saturday. Some extra spice in this one with Cobra premiership coach, Travis Hodgson, returning to Bacchus Marsh for the first time since his defection to the Lions, as his side looks to build off their impressive victory over North Ballarat last round. Prediction – Sunbury in a real flip of the coin
