Tables tight as halfway point looms
BY MARG WILKINS
WITH only one more round to go to reach the midway point of the Ballarat District Bowls Division Monday Pennant season, the ladder positions are close with a few exceptions.
PREMIERS
BMS are clearly the favourites in top spot by 15 points, ahead of second placed Buninyong, followed by Sebastopol and City Oval. Central Wendouree is in fifth position. City Oval travel to Central Wendouree in what should be a close contest in Round 9.
DIVISION 1
Victoria lead by 11 points ahead of City Oval. City Oval had a close call Monday with a one-shot win over Central Wendouree. Webbcona and Smeaton are third and fourth on the ladder. The match of Round 9 should be between City Oval and Smeaton.
DIVISION 2
Ladder leader Smeaton are 12 shots clear of second placed Central Wendouree followed by BMS and Learmonth. Smeaton play BMS in Round 9, in what should be a close game.
DIVISION 3
Only one-point separates first and second spot. Webbcona Creswick Smeaton and Victoria make up the four.
DIVISION 4
Ballarat North are the ladder leaders followed by Bungaree, Creswick and Beaufort. The closest game on Monday was between Clunes and Buninyong 2, Clunes the winner by one-shot. Central Wendouree and Buninyong are on equal points, the winner could well be in the four after the completion of Round 9
