Under 9s to get back on the track

AFTER a successful debut in 2019, the Western Bulldogs Under 9 competition will return to the region for term two this year.

Featuring teams nine teams from across the city and the wider region – including the new Woady Yaloak Warriors, the comp will play on Friday nights under lights.

Along with the Warriors, the Ballarat Storm, Ballarat Swans, East Point, Lake Wendouree, Mount Clear, North Ballarat and Sebastopol will field sides.

Just like last time each club will host games at its home ground once, with modified rules used and the field divided into four ovals.

Due to the additional team in 2021, each club will get one bye, while there’s also a week off for Queen’s Birthday long weekend on 11 June.

A release from the Ballarat Football Netball League, who coordinate the competition, said it was easy to take part.

“The Ballarat FNL and Western Bulldogs encourage new families, boys, and girls to participate in this exciting competition and be part of a wonderful family atmosphere,” the statement said. “Find your local club by visiting play.afl.”

The under 9s comp gets underway on Friday, 23 April with Lake Wendouree set to host.
