Young Lions on track for big win

June 19, 2019 BY

Redan v Melton South
COULD the Panthers cause a big upset in McDonalds Ballarat Football League round nine action this weekend? Logic dictates no, with Melton South coming off yet another smashing at the hands of the Marsh. Redan will still be without a few of their best 22 and again look to their kids to record another big win. Prediction – Redan by excess of a hundred.

Sunbury v Ballarat
After losing in dramatic fashion, the Lions will look to get back on the victor’s list when they host the winless Swans at Clarke Oval. The Ballarat battled hard against Sebas last round with Andrew Hooper adding another three goals to his season tally. The ex-Western Bulldog will have to be at his very best to get his side on the winner’s board in season 2019. Prediction – Sunbury by 30 points.

Darley v Lake Wendouree
It was the Lakers who caused the big upset in round eight football by defeating Melton at the C.E. Brown reserve after what’s been a bit of a horror run of form in the lead up. Dale Power’s men were able to shrug off a loss to the struggling Panthers and a draw to the winless Swans to record a big victory at home and keep their finals aspirations alive. The Devils are fresh off the bye and will be looking to remain undefeated at Darley Park this season. Prediction – Darley comfortably.

Melton v North Ballarat City
Both sides went down last week, and the Bloods have now slipped to sixth of the ladder and another shock loss could see them remarkably slip out of finals qualification. Melton have been a shell of the side that stormed into a grand final year and will be looking for big games from co-Captain’s Ben Archard and Braedan Kight to virtually end North Ballarat’s year. Prediction – Melton by 12 points.

Sebastopol v Bacchus Marsh
Match of the Round as the Burra host the Cobras in a game that shapes up to be a real shootout. Michael Powell has booted nine goals in the last couple weeks, while the 2018 Tony Lockett Medallist, Aaron Willitts kick himself a big bag of ten against the struggling Panthers. Co-Captain, Jake Owen, looks to be a match-up nightmare for Sebastopol coach, Leigh Hutchinson, with maybe the Burra forced to move captain Tom Petersen back to defence to aid his undersized teammates. Prediction – Bacchus Marsh in a nail bitter.
