Connecting with community and inspiring motivation

BEING self-employed can be solitary. So, when Genèvre Becker moved from Melbourne to the Ballarat region in 2022, she was in search of a new community.

Seeking like-minded people, to find her ‘tribe,’ to be able to connect with others that could match her experience and ambition.

With funding from Regional Arts Victoria in 2023, Genèvre secured a one-year mentorship with a local artist and educator.

As well as inspiring her creative practice, it has fostered connection plus avenues to establishing new networks with a supportive sounding board.

Genèvre believes that it is important for all women to access to encouragement.

In 2023 she also found her ‘tribe’ in One Roof (OR): a community of impressive, supportive, and savvy entrepreneurial women.

A digital membership with a purpose-built all-in-one platform supporting women to start, grow and stay in business.

Offering masterclasses with well-known guest speakers, interactive sessions, and a directory of business experts.

They boast over 1500 members across Australia and have a highly engaged online community of over 35,000 women.

OR provide a national network through their online member platform and offer localised connections through their ambassador program and ambassador led meetups.

Building a new network can take time, which motivated Genèvre to step into the role as ambassador for OR’s Ballarat Region, alongside 30 other ambassadors across Australia.

Together, Genèvre and OR will be hosting and facilitating monthly meetups for women founders, to share their wins, overcome challenges, and connect with businesswomen in the region.

The 2024 series of meetups welcome both OR members and non-members.

Coffee sessions are casual, with facilitated conversations, to provide value for each participant.

“Imagine having a network around you where you can connect on a monthly basis?” Genèvre said.

“If you’re looking for opportunities to have a coffee and talk about what you are working on; or you’re seeking accountability, and opportunities to progress in your business and career, then this could be the catalyst you have been waiting for. And the best part is that these meetups are hosted by a coach and mentor – that’s me.

“Where I can offer insights to extend on current ways of thinking and reflect on different ways to connect and level up.”

To celebrate International Women’s Day Genèvre will be hosting the inaugural One Roof + Genèvre Creative meetup in Ballarat.

It will take place at the gorgeous Champagne Room at The Lake View Hotel on 19 March at 10am.

The meetup will kick off with a lucky-dip book swap, move into a light-hearted icebreaker, and facilitated discussions about all matters relating to business.

Then opening up for free-flow networking. Both OR members and non-members are welcome to attend this free event.
