A DOZEN community groups and non-profits are being supported to deliver their projects thanks to grant funding from Golden Plains Shire.<\/p>\n
The recipients in the latest round of the municipality’s Community Strengthening Grants were announced last week, with groups to share in a $75,000 funding pool.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire CEO, Shane Walden, said the program is all about helping the region’s groups achieve their goals to benefit the community.<\/p>\n
“Council’s Community Strengthening Grants Program is an important initiative that is highly valued,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Over the past 27 years it has enabled the delivery of a variety of excellent projects for the Golden Plains Shire community.<\/p>\n
“Congratulations to the successful groups who have been awarded grant funding to support their projects and initiatives.”<\/p>\n
Grant recipients are awarded across four streams including environment and sustainability, creative community, healthy active living, and community safety.<\/p>\n
Bannockburn and District Men’s Shed received $930 for their community timber project while Linton and District Historical Society were given $3960 to develop a self-guided historical audio tour around Linton and surrounds.<\/p>\n
Almost $10,000 went to Contemporary Practice Networks to deliver a Skipton Rail Trail residency, and The Bop Arts Co-op got $8000 for their Wild Flowers Print Project.<\/p>\n
Lighting and equipment safety upgrades are on the way for the Shelford Public Hall Reserve to the tune of $2330 while Bruce’s Creek Landcare Group will look to reactivate the organisation next year with $9740.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Ross Creek Landcare Group will conduct their Woody Weed Control on Rural Roadsides program with $9100.<\/p>\n
Momentum Christian Church are set to host a Community Christmas Carols event at Bannockburn with $4500 while Haddon Community Learning Centre will use $6480 to deliver their Growing Together program.<\/p>\n
Across the region’s recreational groups, Bannockburn Soft Tennis received $5650 to deliver a health and fitness initiative for residents aged over 50, and $10,000 went to Carngham Linton Football Netball Club to install an electronic scoreboard at their home ground.<\/p>\n
Bannockburn Lethbridge Scout Group received $4360 for a fundraising activity project.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
