GOLDEN Plains Shire is applying for up to two million dollars of State Government funding to enhance safety on council-managed roads, intersections and precincts.<\/p>\n

Eight projects have been identified and the community is invited to provide feedback about the proposal.<\/p>\n

The application includes creating raised pedestrian crossings at Milton Street and Burns Street Bannockburn, Heales Street and Becker Street Smythesdale, East Street Inverleigh, Moreillon Boulevard Bannockburn, and Racecourse Road and Haddon-Windermere Road Haddon.<\/p>\n

It also includes speed limit reductions at various locations throughout the Shire and intersection upgrades at Lacys Road and Sebastopol-Smythesdale Road Ross Creek and Bowes Road and Sebastopol-Smythesdale Road Smythes Creek.<\/p>\n

These projects have moved past the initial planning stage and feedback is being sought before the application is submitted in January.<\/p>\n

“Council is committed to creating a safe travel environment for the community, whether they choose to walk, cycle or drive,” said Golden Plains Shire CEO Shane Walden.<\/p>\n

“We are asking the people to work with us as we plan and deliver road safety initiatives to reduce road trauma and support a thriving community.<\/p>\n

“We want to make it easier for residents, rate payers, businesses and road users to get to where they need to go, and we invite the community to share their feedback on these projects.”<\/p>\n
