LINTON Primary School has received a State Government grant of $30,000 to promote being active.<\/p>\n
Member for Ripon Martha Haylett congratulated the school for receiving an ‘Active Schools’ grant, which aims to help ensure Victorian students have the skills, confidence and motivation to be active.<\/p>\n
Up to 500 schools in communities regarded as disadvantaged have received a grant, sharing in $20 million of funding since the initiative launched in 2020.<\/p>\n
“Sports and physical activity help young people thrive,” Ms Haylett said.<\/p>\n
“These grants will make sure local students have access to healthy ways to improve their health and wellbeing and nurture their love of sport.”<\/p>\n
Schools have used the funding to improve the skills of physical education teachers, purchase sports equipment, build outdoor learning spaces, upgrade playgrounds, install sensory play areas and implement physical activity programs.<\/p>\n
“We want kids to learn healthy habits at school \u2013 even 15 minutes of physical activity can be all it takes to boost the overall wellbeing of our children,” Minister for Education Ben Carroll said.<\/p>\n
“The Active Schools Program is a great program to help young people find an activity they love that helps them maintain an active and healthy lifestyle.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
