<\/p>\nSHELFORD Cricket Club members will look back on four premiership milestones as part of a past players and sponsors day next month.<\/p>\n
Alongside a match against North Geelong, members will gather at the clubrooms on 15 February from 1pm to celebrate 20, 35, and 40-year anniversaries of seasonal victories.<\/p>\n
Shelford Cricket Club president Robert Rice said the day will be all about looking back on the club’s achievements.<\/p>\n

“We’ve got our B Grade from 1984\/85 celebrating 40 years, two [A and B Grade] premierships celebrating 35 years, and our B Grade in the 2004\/05 season celebrating 20 years,” he said.<\/p>\n
“It’s a big year especially because with the two premierships celebrating 35 years, they’d also won the A and B Grade in 1988\/89 and then did it again the following season.<\/p>\n
“To do that back in that era of the competition when it was the Leigh Cricket Association was certainly a great effort from those players. We certainly want to recognise that.”<\/p>\n
The day’s match will be followed with an afternoon tea and barbecue.<\/p>\n
Scorecards from the anniversary premierships will be on display while past players are encouraged to bring any memorabilia to show off.<\/p>\n
Mr Rice said he is looking forward to seeing the club’s former members reminisce.<\/p>\n
“My brother had just started the year before the 20-year premiership at Shelford and I was about 10, so I’m looking forward to seeing the comradeship and the mateship the guys still hold over all these years,” he said.<\/p>\n
“Considering all we’ve gone over for the last few years, it’s great for everybody to catch up again and relive good times.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
