VICTORIAN apprentices and trainees can now access a free helpdesk to get advice about pay, training contracts and workplace wellbeing.<\/p>\n
The State Government has launched the Apprenticeships Victoria Helpdesk, staffed by trained case support officers who can also help report serious issues such as bullying or harassment.<\/p>\n
Skills and TAFE minister Gayle Tierney said the helpdesk aimed to make it easier for apprentices to finish their training and start their careers.<\/p>\n
“The Apprentice Helpdesk is just a phone call away, providing apprentices and trainees access to the information and support they need quickly and easily,” Tierney said.<\/p>\n
“Victoria’s almost 74,000 apprentices and trainees are the future of our state’s skilled workforce \u2013 we want to see them succeed and we’re giving them the tools and support they need to do just that.”<\/p>\n
The two-year pilot program is part of a $9 million package to improve fairness, safety and mental health for apprentices.<\/p>\n
It builds on the Apprenticeship Support Officer program, which has helped more than 166,000 apprentices since it started.<\/p>\n
The helpdesk is open weekdays from 9am to 5pm, except public holidays.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
