THE upgraded Rokewood Community Hub and Pavilion was officially opened this week.<\/p>\n
The $3.96 million upgrade was made possible by a $3.5 million grant from the State Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund, a $442,000 contribution from Golden Plains Shire and $18,000 from the Rokewood Football and Netball Club.<\/p>\n
The upgrades include refurbished meeting rooms, kitchenette, netball viewing deck, first aid room, a multi-purpose community hub, bar, canteen, oval viewing areas, new changerooms for players and umpires, and a new public toilet facility.<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Owen Sharkey said the facility will be an asset at the heart of the local government area.<\/p>\n
“It’s fantastic to mark this significant milestone and officially open the Rokewood Community Hub and Pavilion Upgrade to the community,” he said.<\/p>\n
“This project has seen many years of planning, design and construction and is sure to be a valuable asset for Rokewood and surrounding communities.<\/p>\n
“We look forward to seeing the many benefits of this impressive Hub which will support recreation, physical activity and social connection for a number of user groups.”<\/p>\n
Member for Eureka Michaela Settle said she was proud to be part of the project.<\/p>\n
“This wonderful new hub is a celebration of community spirit in Rokewood – a space where locals can come together, get active, and stay connected,” she said.<\/p>\n
“From sporting clubs to social groups, this facility will support everyone to thrive.<\/p>\n
