RECYCLED art and craft sessions at Inverleigh and Bannockburn are among a lineup of free activities on offer to celebrate Children’s Week.<\/p>\n

The Golden Plains Shire Council is hosting a range of free activities for families, carers and children from Monday 20 to Friday 24 October to celebrate national Children’s Week.<\/p>\n

Hour-long Intergenerational Recycled Art and Craft sessions are begin held from 10.30am at the Inverleigh Public Hall on Monday 20 October, and also at the Bannockburn Library on Tuesday 21 October.<\/p>\n

Facilitated by Firefly Wellbeing, the upcoming sessions will aim to provide families, carers and children the opportunity to make a wind chime.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

On Thursday 23 October the council’s children’s services team will also be running mobile library activities at Meredith from 9am to 10.30am, Rokewood from 11.40am to 1pm and Dereel from 2.15pm to 3pm.<\/p>\n

And on Friday 24 October 24 the team will also be running more free mobile library activities at Linton from 1.30pm to 2.45pm and at Cape Clear from 3.15pm to 4pm.<\/p>\n

A council spokesperson said the mobile library activities will include story time, music and movement and craft activities.<\/p>\n

Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Owen Sharkey encouarged families and children from across the shire to participate in the family-friendly activities.<\/p>\n

“These fantastic Children’s Week activities are open to all children, families and carers in Golden Plains Shire, providing the opportunity to connect, share and engage in activities that support wellbeing and healthy development,” Cr Sharkey said.<\/p>\n

The national theme for Children’s Week 2025 is Everyone should know about Children’s Rights and the Golden Plains Shire Council is presenting its activities program in partnership with the state government.<\/p>\n

Registrations and more details for the intergenerational art workshops are available through the council website<\/a> and the council’s children’s services team while registrations are not required for the Mobile Library activities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
