ROSS Creek Gallery has a new exhibition opening tomorrow (Saturday 29 November) featuring mother and daughter duo Jackie Gorring and Minna Graham.<\/p>\n
Light Fandango will run until 28 December and features printmaking, sculpture and mixed media by Gorring and ceramics by Graham.<\/p>\n
“I was interested in various art forms since I was a small child and started working on them after I finished art school in 1976,” Gorring said.<\/p>\n
“My daughter Minna has been making sculptures for about 14 years.<\/p>\n
“We come from a family of makers; parents and grandparents who made drawing and prints.<\/p>\n
“And my son, who lives in New South Wales, is a sculptor.”<\/p>\n
While working with different materials and approaches, Gorring and Graham’s works share a common exploration of lived experience, emotional resonance, and the interplay between inner and outer worlds.<\/p>\n
“Gorring’s art reveals the extraordinary within the ordinary, and Graham’s sculptures spark wonder and introspection by confronting nature’s chaos,” Ruby Pilven from Ross Creek Gallery said.<\/p>\n
“Their work explores the tension between order and disorder, highlighting how personal experiences shape their creative expressions.”<\/p>\n
Gorring said she and Graham mostly exhibit separately but found the Ross Creek Gallery a beautiful space for a shared show.<\/p>\n
“Ruby is lovely to work with, and the gallery offers great exposure for us,” she said.<\/p>\n
Ross Creek Gallery is at 183 Post Office Road, Smythes Creek.<\/p>\n
