THE Inverleigh Progress Association is inviting everyone to bring along their best singing voice and attend the Community Christmas Carols event next Saturday evening, 13 December.<\/p>\n
The program gets started at 6pm with St Paul’s Anglican Church in High Street the venue for the two-hour-long festive occasion that will be free for all to attend and will feature musicians from the Geelong Concert Band.<\/p>\n
“We’ve invited a subset of the Geelong Concert Band along, and the church will be able to fit at least 10 musicians,” event organiser and Inverleigh Progress Association vice-president Deb Morrison said.<\/p>\n
“We’ll have the traditional well-known and well-loved carols like We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Jingle Bells, Rudolf, Silent Night, and Away in a Manger.<\/p>\n
“There used to be a very well-run carols event in Inverleigh for many years but it went into hiatus, so if it’s successful it’s certainly something that we can run again.<\/p>\n
“I think it’s just going to be a joyful community event.”<\/p>\n
Inverleigh Progress Association president Hilary Hamilton said next Saturday’s carols will mark a return of the annual seasonal event for the town after an absence of several years, and it is hoped they will become an annual fixture beyond this year.<\/p>\n
“For the past two years we’ve had community barbecues, and they’ve been well supported but this year we decided we’d do something a bit different,” she said.<\/p>\n
“It’s just carols, not a church service.<\/p>\n
“It’s a community evening that people can come and join in and we plan to have the carols in printed sheet form for people and also a light supper included afterwards.<\/p>\n
“It’s for young and old and the main thing is just to bring along some Christmas spirit and enjoy the evening.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
