We\u2019re seeing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bendigotimes\/real-estate\/is-it-worth-sub-dividing-your-land\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">more rates of subdivision<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> across suburbs around metropolitan Melbourne and even along the city\u2019s outskirts. In coastal markets including in Geelong and high-demand areas like the townships across the Great Ocean Road, townhouse developments are also proving to be great investment options for regional property investors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But is a townhouse the right fit for your family over a floor-level unit, apartment, or a traditional standalone home? That\u2019s the question we\u2019ll be answering today, namely by outlining all the key considerations that need to be made before you look to buy a townhouse as an owner occupier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Insurance for Townhouses vs. Standalone Properties<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Townhouses offer some financial advantages for first-home buyers, thanks to their lower market values when compared to standalone properties on non-subdivided lots. This also makes renovations a little tricky for townhouse complexes, because any alterations to your townhouse, may end up affecting your neighbours in different ways, like obstructing their views or accidentally casting shade on their solar panels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you find a townhouse that aligns perfectly with your lifestyle and space needs, however, then this isn\u2019t a big issue. In fact, some homebuyers might actually enjoy buying into a townhouse complex where they won\u2019t have to worry about improvements, maintenance, or renovations, as all of this will be handled by your strata manager. So if you\u2019re happy to trade in a larger land plot and all the upkeep that comes with it for a smaller property title and less maintenance responsibilities, townhouse living may be perfect for you.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lifestyle Factor: Private Courtyards vs. Big Backyards<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That being said, big backyards <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/real-estate\/making-the-most-of-the-aussie-backyard\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">have always been a staple of Aussie living<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and with townhouses, sadly big private garden spaces aren\u2019t a guarantee.
