Despite everyday commitments, he said, people still wish to participate in community activities.<\/p>\n
“You’ve got young families, ageing parents, you’re busy and you just want to find something,” he said. “So it’s really important for community members to be engaged with things like this.”<\/p>\n
He said the Rec Fest would also give local clubs and groups a valuable chance to connect with potential new members.<\/p>\n
More than 20 groups will be present at both events, representing activities including football, dance, basketball, fishing, gyms and tennis.<\/p>\n
The Smythesdale Rec Fest will be held on Saturday 21 February, from 10am to 1pm at the Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve.<\/p>\n
The Bannockburn event will follow on Saturday 14 March, from 10am to 1pm at the Recreation Precinct Soccer Pavilion.<\/p>\n
