THE Golden Plains Shire is inviting expressions of interest from young bands to compete at this year’s Battle of the Bands event.<\/p>\n

The competition showcases dynamic performances from emerging young Golden Plains artists who are aged 12 to 25.<\/p>\n

The event will be held on Saturday 21 March from 4pm to 7pm at Turtle Bend Reserve in Teesdale and will offer audiences the chance to catch a diverse range of live music.<\/p>\n

The event is an initiative of Fuse, a crew of passionate young shire residents who bring bold, youth-led ideas to life.<\/p>\n

Supported by the state government’s Amplify program, Fuse aims to give young people “a chance to step up, get creative and design events that are fun, inclusive and local”.<\/p>\n

Golden Plains Shire mayor Owen Sharkey encouraged young bands to express their interest in performing at the event.<\/p>\n

“If you’re in a local band and wanting the opportunity to perform in front of a live and supportive audience, Battle of the Bands is perfect for you,” Cr Sharkey said.<\/p>\n

“This is the biggest free live music competition in Golden Plains that brings an inclusive and welcoming environment for our local performers.<\/p>\n

“This is more than just a gig. It’s a chance to grow your audience, sharpen your stage presence, network with like-minded people and build credibility.<\/p>\n

“I look forward to seeing what our local bands bring to the stage.”<\/p>\n
