{"id":104832,"date":"2026-02-08T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-02-07T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=104832"},"modified":"2026-02-05T01:53:36","modified_gmt":"2026-02-04T14:53:36","slug":"hidden-gems-uncovered-at-the-unicorn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/living\/hidden-gems-uncovered-at-the-unicorn\/","title":{"rendered":"Hidden gems uncovered at The Unicorn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CREATIVE talent from across the Ballarat region is being showcased this month in a new exhibition at The Unicorn Collection in Sturt Street.<\/p>\n<p>Twelve artists from the Hidden Gems Art Studios collective are presenting Hidden Gems @ The Unicorn, a month-long feature exhibition running until Sunday 1 March.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition features a diverse range of works, including painting, photography, textiles, ceramics and mixed media, highlighting the breadth of practices represented within the collective.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition space is open to visitors from Thursday to Sunday throughout the display period. A Meet the Artists session will be held this evening (Friday 6 February) from 5pm to 7pm.<\/p>\n<p>Collective spokeswoman Vanessa Brady said the event provided an opportunity for visitors to engage directly with the artists and learn more about their creative processes and studio practice.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hidden Gems @ The Unicorn is a wonderful chance for our artists to come together in a shared space and connect with new audiences,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2026\/02\/HiddenGemsB_71505.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Gems on show: Sylvia Aguirre, Jeannie King, Kate Wise and Anne Langdon are among 12 artists exhibiting their work as part Hidden Gems @ The Unicorn. Photo: EVIE LAMB<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This region has so much creative talent, and this partnership with The Unicorn Collection allows us to really celebrate it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Hidden Gems Art Studios is a growing network of artists based throughout the region, including Smythes Creek, Haddon, Smythesdale, Scarsdale, Sebastopol, Ross Creek, Dereel, Cambrian Hill and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Brady said the collective was formed to strengthen connections between artists, encourage collaboration and foster a sense of mutual support.<\/p>\n<p>The Unicorn Collection is an initiative of Ballarat Evolve Creative Industries and supports both emerging and established artists through rotating exhibitions, creative events and space-activation projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CREATIVE talent from across the Ballarat region is being showcased this month in a new exhibition at The Unicorn Collection in Sturt Street.
