Competitors run around the reserve in special crafts made for the event, which was inspired by its European fastnet counterpart.<\/p>\n
“People are still talking about the ones that they used to come to,” Mrs Cannon said. “And so it was important to be able to get it back.<\/p>\n
“On the oval there’ll be a lighthouse with the rocks around it like there is over an island.<\/p>\n
“You’re running up around the lighthouse and the rocks and then running back again.<\/p>\n
“It’s just an old fashioned family fun day from one till five; it’s laughing, making friends, having fun and meeting people.”<\/p>\n
The committee will use gold coin donations from the event to continue providing services that assist residents throughout Cape Clear, Illabrook and Rokewood.<\/p>\n
Prizes will be given to the best boats, and there will also be a soccer match as part of a club the committee is starting.<\/p>\n
