THE organisers of this year’s Beyond Boundaries Art Exhibition and Market at Inverleigh are urging artists to get cracking and enter their works now ahead of the Easter Friday and Saturday event.<\/p>\n
GP Arts Inc is inviting entries for the event happening over 3-4 April at the Inverleigh Public Hall on High Street.<\/p>\n
The group’s events coordinator, Deidre Bain, said they’re also keen to hear from more stallholders to participate as well, after taking up the baton for the town’s annual Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal as part of the wider event.<\/p>\n
“We had initially just booked our art exhibition to go hand-in-hand with the local Good Friday Appeal which has been happening for many years,” Ms Bain said.<\/p>\n
“But they had to cancel and so we’ve decided to take it on board and expanded to accommodate the local vendors and stall holders with the market as well.”<\/p>\n
Ms Bain said they’ll be accepting gold coin donations at the door toward the long-running local Appeal, and she said the venue will be pretty easy to spot with classic cars on display.<\/p>\n
“We want to encourage as many people as possible to spare a gold coin donation for the Good Friday Appeal,” she said.<\/p>\n
“We’ve also got the classic car club coming. They’ll have a couple of cars parked at the front of the hall and they’re doing a drive past with their classic cars.”<\/p>\n
Artists have up to Thursday March 26 to get their entries in for the art exhibition with entry forms able to be downloaded from the Golden Plains Arts Inc website.<\/p>\n
“People can submit virtually anything – drawing painting, woodwork, collage, printmaking, 3D work.<\/p>\n
“We’re really keen to get a wide variety of different media,” said Ms Bain, an accomplished portrait artist who’s medium of preference is oils.<\/p>\n
“We’ll also have artist demos happening in the hall so we have quite a few people bringing along their art to work on as well.<\/p>\n
“And we have a few very special artists participating including two award-winning artists.<\/p>\n
“One of them is Vida Pearson who is renowned for her lino cuts and wildlife art. The other is Jen Urquhart who is an award-winning coloured pencil artist.”<\/p>\n
The event will run from 10am-4pm on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
