AS Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme (CDS Vic) becomes part of our everyday life, communities across the West Zone are discovering how far a 10-cent refund can go.<\/p>\n

Gardens For Wildlife Ballarat is a great example of how everyday recycling can help grow lasting local impact.<\/p>\n

Through workshops, presentations, guided tours and practical support, Gardens for Wildlife Ballarat, a not-for profit, gives people the knowledge and confidence to care for local flora and fauna. It helps residents, schools and community groups create wildlife-friendly spaces and improve biodiversity across Ballarat.<\/p>\n

Donated refunds through CDS Vic played an important role in the group’s growth in the early days, paying for essential set-up fees to get the organisation established.<\/p>\n

Today, refund donations provide printed resources and workshop materials for the expanding public education programs.<\/p>\n

“I’ve been part of Gardens for Wildlife Ballarat for five years and it’s inspiring to see how the group has grown with such strong community support,” said president Adrik Wright.<\/p>\n

“The donations we received through CDS Vic have been invaluable in helping make us viable in those early days.”<\/p>\n

West Zone operator, TOMRA Cleanaway general manager Tony Catania said donation partners “demonstrate how community-driven recycling can deliver tangible local impact”.<\/p>\n

Contributing is easy. Collect your eligible containers, return them at one of the 15 refund points across Ballarat and Golden Plains. Select Ballarat Gardens for Wildlife as your donation recipient via the CDS Vic West App.<\/p>\n
