IF good things come in small packages, there will be plenty of good at Inverleigh Town Hall this weekend.<\/p>\n
Over Friday 15 to Sunday 17 May the hall is hosting the first Exhibition of Tiny Art as part of a three-year project featuring little art works.<\/p>\n
“We’ve had such a great response, not just from artists within the shire but further afield, even as far as Perth,” said project coordinator Bec Wilson.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got about 160 entries all up at the moment and there are some absolutely stunning entries, quite mind blowing to see some of the things that people can create on such a small scale. Some very stunning pieces”<\/p>\n
The exhibition features entries across three categories including Teeny-Tiny for artworks measuring under 6cm x 6cm x 6cm, Tiny for works measuring under 11cm x 11cm x 11cm, and Miniatures for pieces that, while still petite, can be more than 11cm x 11cm x 11cm.<\/p>\n
“We were thinking about having something accessible both for artists to create and for people to purchase,” said Wilson, discussing how the concept arose.<\/p>\n
“There’s just that extra element, a cuteness or interest factor,” she said.<\/p>\n
“For our opening night we’re featuring tiny drinks and tiny nibbles served on some very gorgeous tiny paper plates and paper cups.”<\/p>\n
The exhibition has been made possible with the help of volunteers, a Berrybank Windfarm Grant, Golden Plains Shire and the not-for-profit BOP Arts Co-op.<\/p>\n
Many of the works will be for sale and entry to the exhibition is free with gold coin donations towards the ongoing project welcomed.<\/p>\n
There will be refreshments on site as well as the chance to participate in a tiny canvas painting workshop happening at 10am, noon and 2pm on both Saturday and Sunday of the event with bookings on site or through the BOP Arts Co-op website.<\/p>\n
In the lead up to the exhibition a number of workshops have encouraged locals of all ages to create their own tiny artworks with Inverleigh metal fabricator Matt Fry even creating a tiny art gallery that members of the Gold Plains Youth hub then complemented with their own tiny art works.<\/p>\n
Wilson said the tiny gallery will be among works on show next weekend with hopes to then see it tour in the shire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
