A SPORTING ground at the Inverleigh Recreation Reserve is set for lighting upgrades.<\/p>\n
New LED lights will be installed on the reserve’s second oval to allow sportspeople to utilise the space more often.<\/p>\n
On the busiest nights, about 100 players from Inverleigh Football and Netball Club, and Inverleigh Cricket Club, are sharing a single oval, causing training concerns.<\/p>\n
At times the available lit space places limitations on coaching as well as pressure on volunteers.<\/p>\n
With AFL Barwon, the clubs identified the lighting upgrade as a major priority.<\/p>\n
The project is funded with $320,000 from the state government as part of the 26\/27 budget.<\/p>\n
“Inverleigh deserve quality local facilities that meet the needs of local families and provide welcoming spaces where sporting clubs, community groups and residents can come together, stay active and enjoy community life for many years to come,” Eureka MP Michaela Settle said.<\/p>\n
“Strong local facilities like these play an important role in bringing people together and helping to maintain the sense of connection and community spirit that makes Inverleigh such a special place.”<\/p>\n
Golden Plains Shire mayor Cr Owen Sharkey said the lighting upgrade would give all teams fair access.<\/p>\n
“Upgrading the lighting on Inverleigh’s second oval is a big win for our growing sporting community,” Cr Sharkey said.<\/p>\n
“With more than 100 players often training at once, this investment will make evenings safer, fairer and far more enjoyable for everyone who uses the reserve.<\/p>\n
“Council will work closely with the committee of management and all user groups to ensure the community received the full benefit of this exciting project.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
