Inverleigh’s biennial book bazaar will be held next Saturday 30 May.<\/p>\n
Thousands of donated books will be for sale at a low cost as the Inverleigh Public Hall committee of management hosts the fundraising event from 9am to 4pm in the historic well-used venue.<\/p>\n
“They’re novels, biographies, memoir and childrens’ books,” said committee treasurer, book bazaar co-ordinator Anne-Maree Tarbett.<\/p>\n
“All the book donations have come from the community and we’re so grateful for that. People just love to be able to pass on their preloved books.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got a really good range of authors and the books themselves are great quality as well.<\/p>\n
“We’ve got oodles of them. We’ve been getting book donations since October last year and probably before then as well. They’ve been coming in very steadily.”<\/p>\n
Tarbett said a team of local volunteers make the bazaar happen and in the eight years since it began it has raised about $30,000 all up toward ongoing refurbishment and upkeep of the hall facilities.<\/p>\n
“We get a lot of appreciation for the way it’s displayed, and we will have cash and Eftpos on the day,” she said.<\/p>\n
“The hall will be full of books and the supper room will be for the children’s books.<\/p>\n
“The books will be sorted by author alphabetically so readers can easily find what they’re after.<\/p>\n
“The soft covers are $2, the hard covers are $3 and the children’s books range in price from 20 cents to a dollar.<\/p>\n
“The community comes together really well. We do get a lot of people and in 2024 we took in $5000 for the day. Hopefully we’ll do better than that this time.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
