AN “organic” growth in numbers saw a community organisation in the shire’s north fill its entire committee.<\/p>\n
Last month, the Linton and District Progress Association took its committee numbers to nine.<\/p>\n
They found recruits for not only the four executive positions but that of the general committee members.<\/p>\n
The previous committee was just big enough to fill the essential roles such as president and treasurer.<\/p>\n
Association president Rachael Gauci said the change occurred at their annual general meeting.<\/p>\n
“There was no pressure or recruitment drive; it was organic,” she said.<\/p>\n
“People showed up because they want to be part of shaping what happens in their town, and that kind of enthusiasm is something you can’t manufacture.<\/p>\n
“We come from across the district, and that matters when you are looking at the wider holistic view of the town.”<\/p>\n
She said a committee was only as strong as the people behind it.<\/p>\n
“The breadth of experience, skills, and perspectives across this group makes us far more capable than any one or two people could be alone,” she said.<\/p>\n
“Collectively we want to be able to share, collaborate, learn new things and to grow personally as well, and expanding our member numbers and having a larger committee allows us to do this.”<\/p>\n
Gauci said the committee had their first meeting earlier this month, \u00e4nd its enthusiasm “was wonderful to experience”.<\/p>\n
She said the growth in numbers would allow the association to pursue more action and enhance its communication with members and the wider community.<\/p>\n
“Having nine committed people around the table means we can spread that load, play to each other’s strengths, and keep the momentum going even when life gets busy,” she said.<\/p>\n
“It also sends a message to the wider community that this association is active, inclusive, and worth being part of. That confidence matters.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
