CULINARY herb producers doing smart things to reuse plastic containers and escargot producers farming snails in the Otways are among enterprising primary producers set to feature at next week’s regenerative agriculture showcase event at the Birregurra Mechanics Hall.<\/p>\n
RMIT Activator and Berrybank Wind Farm developers GPG are bringing together some of the region’s most innovative entrepreneurs to be part of the free event on Thursday evening 18 June.<\/p>\n
Organisers said the showcase aims to celebrate farmers, land-based businesses and regenerative agriculture practitioners who are working to build healthier land and more resilient regional communities.<\/p>\n
They are promoting the showcase as a chance to hear directly from participants as they share their stories, outlining what they have been working on and where they are heading next.<\/p>\n
The evening will feature guest speaker Caitie Tacey of Farm My School, several short presentations, refreshments and relaxed networking with others connected to agriculture, land stewardship and regional business.<\/p>\n
Farm My School is a not-for-profit association, working to transform unused land within schools into regenerative market gardens that can provide food to the local community.<\/p>\n
Tacey is an agroecological market gardener, working as a grower and educator in small-scale farming projects.<\/p>\n
Currently leading the establishment of Farm My School’s second school farm site in Colac, she has a wealth of experience across the food and farming sector and a Masters of Science in Regenerative Food and Farming in the UK.<\/p>\n
Thursday’s showcase event takes place from 4.30pm to 7pm with doors open from 4.15pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
