THE final portion of a $60,000 pledge for fenced off dog parks in Ballarat has been announced and the winner is Miners Rest.<\/p>\n
Member for Ripon, Louise Staley MP, made the announcement with residents last week.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just a little announcement but it\u2019s something this community has been asked for and will make a difference to their quality of life,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve listed to the community, so today we\u2019re announcing that if we come to government we\u2019ll make sure this becomes a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n
The fenced off area would be located within Miners Rest Park and would be set up by the City of Ballarat from a $20,000 grant.<\/p>\n
In late September Liberal candidates for Wendouree and Buninyong made similar pledges for their electorates, also for $20,000 each.<\/p>\n
Miners Rest resident Ileane McGhee said the park would make the town safer for people and pooches.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been bitten by a dog whose owner didn\u2019t have it under control,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve also been attacked by a dog that was off a leash.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019ll be a wonderful addition to Miners Rest and if the Liberal Party are making a commitment it\u2019s very generous of them and I think I\u2019ll go a long way towards something that\u2019s badly needed.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
