CLUNES and District Agricultural Society is holding its 158th Show on Saturday, 17 November.<\/p>\n
While it is a traditional agricultural show with locals showing livestock in the sheep pavilion, displaying fleece in the wool pavilion and hundreds of horse events judged in the main arena throughout the day, it appeals across generations.<\/p>\n
The Society\u2019s secretary Gayle Wrigley said at its heart it is a good old fashion country show, while well supported by the local community it also attracts about 2,000 visitors to the show ground.<\/p>\n
Mrs Wrigley said, \u201cIt sounds trite but there is something for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
Visitors can giggle at the ferret racing, have a go at keg throwing, and take in the arts and craft displays including the work of local school children.<\/p>\n
For those who are thirsty, the outdoor bar in the rotunda is a great place to relax and take in the sights.<\/p>\n
To keep the kids entertained there is a mobile zoo, mini circus, puppet show, face painting and the sideshows.<\/p>\n
Check out the alternative horsepower on display at the line-up of the beaut ute competition where the four-wheel beasts strut their stuff.<\/p>\n
The traditional highlight of the day \u2013 the Grand Parade takes place at 3pm where even competitors from the pet show, from camels to caterpillars, are welcome to join the cattle, sheep, and horses taking their lap around the arena.<\/p>\n
To round off the day visitors and locals alike can grab a bite at the barbecue and be entertained by local band Highway 8. Admission – $15 adult, $5 children and $35 families.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
