WOMEN\u2019S Twenty20 cricket slog-fest, the WBBL, will take to Eastern Oval this Sunday as the Melbourne Renegades battle the Adelaide Strikers.<\/p>\n
The Renegades are coming off a six-wicket loss to the Sydney Thunder last game and allrounder Sophie Molineux said the side was looking to bounce back.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were disappointed with the way we started the season,\u201d she said. \u201cEveryone sort of got in throughout the week and there was a few coming in from the World Cup.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is no excuses with the way we went out there and didn\u2019t put the score we wanted on the board, but our bowling was really good and I think we can take away positive away from that.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll change a few things and get it right this weekend.\u201d<\/p>\n
Molineux and spinner Georgia Wareham were both members of the recent women\u2019s Twenty20 World Cup winning squad and have just returned from the West Indies.<\/p>\n
Both also hail from regional Victoria with Molineux from Bairnsdale and Wareham from Mortlake, and the match will be special place for the pair.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s pretty cool being kind of home and I think it\u2019s obviously pretty cool I\u2019m going to be seeing a lot of family here,\u201d Wareham said.<\/p>\n
Although the Renegades are set to play back-to-back matches this weekend, Molineux said the workload won\u2019t be an issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve had to do that over the last few years,\u201d she said. \u201cIn Big Bash One there were days where we were playing two games, so that shouldn\u2019t be an issue.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sunday\u2019s game isn\u2019t the end of top-level women\u2019s cricket in the region with the Renegades holding their family day in Geelong on Sunday, 16 December.<\/p>\n
Molineux said the family day event was always a great time and this year the men will be the curtain raiser and the women\u2019s side the main event.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re really excited,\u201d she said. \u201cThe fact that we\u2019re playing after the men is really exciting and something we haven\u2019t done before and even if it\u2019s a practice match you\u2019re still going to get a fair few keen supporters there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Adelaide Strikers v Melbourne Renegades goes this Sunday, 9 December from 2.10pm at Eastern Oval.<\/p>\n
