VEGAS and Rose is serving up some summery sweet treats this season, behind a little pink door in Ballarat East.<\/p>\n
Penthea Marshall-Radcliffe is inviting Ballarat to pick up and take away her yummy creations, made with love and the help of her 10-year-old daughter, Ramona.<\/p>\n
Ice-cream sandwiches – with sprinkles or toffee crumbs – are the star of the summer menu, alongside Vietnamese iced coffee frappes \u2013 options for both kids and big kids at heart.<\/p>\n
Homemade brownies, cookies and brookies \u2013 brownie cookies \u2013 act as a delicious bread, hugging ice-cream sourced from Timboon. Choc mint is a popular choice.<\/p>\n
Doughnuts are also baked and fly out the pink door. Doveton Street caf\u00e9, FIKA sells a batch to their loyal coffee lovers every weekend.<\/p>\n
Ms Marshall-Radcliffe hopes her residential small business will be a place for families to stop and grab something cool as they make their way to the Brown Hill pool, just around the corner.<\/p>\n
Previously, she owned and ran Ballarat caf\u00e9, Vegas and Rose, which was beloved locally for five years before it closed permanently in 2017.<\/p>\n
Ready to move on, she wanted to spend more time with her two children, but after a while, she missed working with food.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnother shop \u2013 it\u2019s too much work,\u201d she said, so thought she would start a catering service from her home kitchen, and she kept the name.<\/p>\n
Deciding she\u2019d greet customers outside, Ms Marshall-Radcliffe installed an original old door from the house down the side of the building.<\/p>\n
Left over after renovations, it still had character and she didn\u2019t want it to go to waste. A lick of pink paint made it the perfect foodie pick up point for Vegas and Rose.<\/p>\n
Grazing and lunch boxes have become Ms Marshall-Radcliffe\u2019s specialty of late, perfect for workers\u2019 breaks, picnics and catch-ups.<\/p>\n
