VARIOUS community groups are combining for Australia Day breakfasts across the Golden Plains Shire.<\/p>\n
Events are set for Teesdale, Inverleigh, Scarsdale, Shelford, Bannockburn and Meredith.<\/p>\n
Now in its 10th year, Inverleigh\u2019s event is being run by the Public Hall Committee and Inverleigh Progress Association and will be hosted at the Inverleigh Public Hall.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s more of a meet and greet,\u201d said organiser Anne-Maree Tarbett.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt encourages new people in the town to come along and get to know the oldies of the town and so forth.\u201d<\/p>\n
For a gold coin donation attendees can expect a barbeque breakfast spread of eggs, bacon, tomato, mushrooms and baked beans while the local CWA will be providing topnotch scones.<\/p>\n
Along with the breakfast cook up the historical society will be presenting a display and this year\u2019s theme is Australia Made with attendees invited to bring along artefacts from the nation\u2019s heyday of manufacturing and primary production.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re encouraging people to bring along old things that are Australian made, not a lot of things are made in Australia these days,\u201d Ms Tarbett said.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s also activities for the young and young-at-heart with a footy skills challenge and old and new games.<\/p>\n
