NGIYAMPAA Barkindji woman and Ballarat resident, Darlene Rumler is grateful, having received more water donations to take to people in desperate need of water as a result of the Darling River crisis.<\/p>\n
\u201cWoolworths across Ballarat donated 100 slabs and a fair few were collected at Ballarat City Caravans,\u201d Mrs Rumler said. \u201cIt\u2019s probably been 1500 litres of water donated.\u201d<\/p>\n
A few weeks ago, she headed up to Menindee with her husband Matthew to provide relief. This time, they\u2019ll travel to Wilcannia on 2 March, hoping to gather more support across Ballarat from residents and businesses before they go.<\/p>\n
For those willing to donate water, Mrs Rumler recommends people grab 10 litre tubs, or slabs of 600ml drink bottles. She is also happy to pick up donations directly from people who can\u2019t access the drop off point at Ballarat City Caravans.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you can spare an extra $6 on food shopping, give us consideration,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Mrs Rumler will attend a rally on 3 March, raising awareness of the Darling River\u2019s devastation and calling for a royal commission into the mismanagement of the Murray Darling basin.<\/p>\n
