BOTH major parties have backed funding for upgraded change rooms at Russell Square in Brown Hill.<\/p>\n
Running to the tune of $500,000 the money will be focused on junior facilities and was included in April\u2019s Federal budget but not announced until Monday.<\/p>\n
The cash will come from the Community Sport Infrastructure Grant program and has been included in April\u2019s Federal budget.<\/p>\n
Liberal candidate for Ballarat, Tim Vo was first to make the announcement on Monday at the site.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Morrison government is committed to funding community grassroots sporting activities,\u201d Mr Vo said. \u201cWe understand it is through sports and activities, kids especially can be active.<\/p>\n
\u201cLocal council has been pushing for this for so long, and they\u2019ve gone through the process, and we\u2019ve identified that this is a facility than needed up grades.\u201d<\/p>\n
Twenty-four hours later, the Labor Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, announced her party would also support the funding measure.<\/p>\n
City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Samantha McIntosh said the money would benefit people from across the community.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s fabulous to know that there is more money coming to women\u2019s change rooms in Ballarat,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s so important that young girls and boys, women and men, all have access to the appropriate change facilities and the appropriate sporting facilities.<\/p>\n
