{"id":22782,"date":"2019-07-17T13:24:56","date_gmt":"2019-07-17T03:24:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/?p=22782"},"modified":"2019-07-17T14:00:53","modified_gmt":"2019-07-17T04:00:53","slug":"ballarat-designers-up-for-building-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/goldenplains\/real-estate\/ballarat-designers-up-for-building-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Ballarat designers up for building awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Project Now have been\u00a0<\/strong><strong>shortlisted for the Building\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Designers Association of\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Victoria\u2019s 2019 Building Design\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Awards to be held at NGV\u00a0<\/strong><strong>International in Melbourne\u00a0<\/strong><strong>on 27 July.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>DESIGNS build by Project Now &#8211; Aspect Parade in Alfredton and Ballarat West\u2019s Westlab &#8211; will compete against 54 buildings from around the state.<\/p>\n<p>Luke Jennings, a Designer at Project Now said the Aspect Parade project was challenging as it sits on the edge of an estate and has a dual street frontage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn such an open site, with constraints abound, the project has been delivered as a triumph of materiality and siting,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe responsiveness to its site context combined with the need for a subtle, private dwelling has helped form a sense of belonging to its location and a home of introspective warmth and sophistication.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA sanctuary from the visual and aural noise of a busy estate for the clients to retreat to, whilst still providing a social aspect and togetherness and connectedness once inside the home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Westlab was a contrasting project, being a warehouse with a dynamic office and meeting space attached.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe building takes the utilitarian, traditional warehouse and office typology and brings it into the future through the innovative use of a two toned metal screen, which both performs as a pragmatic screening of both privacy and light, but also creates an exciting and dynamic physical representation of the ethos of a company in an industry that strives for innovation and creativity,\u201d Mr Jennings said.<\/p>\n<p>The team was pleased to be up for an award again, having experienced previous BDAV gongs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been a long-standing member of the Building Designers Association of Victoria.
