EVER tried lawn bowls? Central Wendouree Bowling Club is inviting any potential or returning players to join their community.<\/p>\n
The club currently has over 120 members, welcoming all ages, experiences and abilities, with three greens, two grass and one synthetic.<\/p>\n
President of the Bowls Committee, Laurie Wadeson picked up the sport in 1987. He said Central Wendouree is a friendly and active club that wants to promote itself, the sport, and plan for the future.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe, as a bowls fraternity, are an ageing population. What we\u2019re trying to encourage, is people getting out from behind their television sets to come out and be active,\u201d Mr Wadeson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe cater for anybody and everybody that wants to come along, get out and have fun, and enjoy a social game. It\u2019s great to get out and meet people.<\/p>\n
\u201cI like to think we\u2019ve got some of the best facilities in the association.\u201d<\/p>\n
For a beginner, the sport isn\u2019t expensive at Central Wendouree.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe offer free membership for the first year for someone who\u2019s never bowled before. We can provide bowls, uniforms, anything… The only thing you need to provide is yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n
With five registered coaches, mens\u2019 and ladies\u2019 pennants, mixed social days, Friday night Happy Hour from 5pm, and more, Mr Wadeson said the club is vibrant.<\/p>\n
