IT\u2019S all systems go at Ballarat High School as State Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison announced commencement of construction on stage two of the school\u2019s four-million dollar upgrade.<\/p>\n
Ms Addison\u2019s statement came close on the heels of the completion of stage one last week.<\/p>\n
The school\u2019s $8 million stage three revamp was also kicked off as Ms Addison revealed the awarding of an $800,000 design contract to local architectural firm Morton Dunn.<\/p>\n
\u201cUpgrading Ballarat High School will give local students access to great classrooms and facilities, because you can\u2019t deliver a first-rate education in second-rate classrooms,\u201d Ms Addison said.<\/p>\n
Ballarat High School Principal, Gary Palmer, said he was delighted the next stage of the school\u2019s redevelopment was underway.<\/p>\n
With a student population of 1500 and the school picking up the growth from Alfredton and Lucas the work on the school infrastructure is necessary.<\/p>\n
Morton Dunn\u2019s plan and design contract will encompass the J.J. Sheehan building, erected in the 1980s, and the heritage listed administration building built when the school opened in 1906.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is with great excitement that we now move onto stage two of our school\u2019s capital works program with a $4 million complete refurbishment of our art and technology teaching areas,\u201d Mr Palmer said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe creative arts and design area of our school is a consistent state award winning part of our curriculum and we look forward to modern state of the art facilities for our students and staff to work in.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
