THE Polwarth electorate is encouraged to meet their member of parliament, Richard Riordan next month in Bannockburn at a Listening Post.<\/p>\n
From 11am at the Country Plaza on Thursday, 26 September, Mr Riordan will be available to chat with residents about their community concerns.<\/p>\n
As the fastest growing area in Polwarth, Mr Riordan said Bannockburn\u2019s \u201cnot standing still\u201d and therefore under pressure.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll my country towns and communities are important, but this is an area that people want to live.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a growing town, they\u2019ve got a new school that\u2019s rapidly filling up, there\u2019s catholic schools rapidly filling up,\u201d he said. \u201cBannockburn will be under pressure for public transport, for health services, it will continue to need community facilities.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s all sorts of services and expectations that are rapidly growing, and I\u2019m just keen to get my foot in the door to hear firsthand from people about what they see as the priorities.\u201d<\/p>\n
With upward of 9000 house blocks coming onto the region\u2019s market in the next few years, Mr Riordan said there\u2019s a lot happening and lot of work to be done.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really wanting to keep on the front foot, raise that with the community and, to a certain extent, keep a lid on expectations about what the community wants,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you can work with people\u2019s expectations so they know their civic leaders are putting plans in place to get end results, people will be much happier with that.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey just want to know that something\u2019s happening, has been thought about and things are being planned for, so that\u2019s what my listening tour\u2019s about.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
